1,400 Years — Palestine’s People Since Islam

Are they Palestinians? Or Palestine’s People? Is one term more accurate than the other?

The history of Palestinians is a deeply rooted story of pluralism and connection to the land.

The News:

This week, Antonio Guterres, the United Nations Secretary-General, declared that Gaza is becoming a graveyard for children — Palestine’s children!

On Monday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel will take control of Gaza’s security — indefinitely! But as explained in the Wall Street Journal, top Israeli officials have disavowed any interest in administering Gaza the way America attempted to govern Iraq.

Israel’s plans for Gaza do not seem to include a reoccupation. U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken insists that the Palestinian Authority should play a central role in Gaza’s future. But Mr. Netanyahu is cautious and reluctant about that prospect. According to The New York Times, Mr. Mahmoud Abbas, the President of the Palestinian National Authority, who has had a rocky relationship with Hamas, has yet to condemn Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel, which killed more than 1,400 people.
