Solution to “No publications available” for first-time publishers on Medium.

I am new to Medium (by the time you read this, it may be that I “was” new to Medium). So I eagerly labored over a long and well-researched story about what can be considered a virtue for a U.S. President (for that and other similar stories, visit ThePeel.news, where we peel the news to give you a perspective from the past), and submitted its draft for review by a Medium publication. The publication suggested a couple of changes and then encouraged me to submit my piece for publication by selecting their publication in the “Add to publication” option (sorry, too many publications).

Even though I followed their instructions (provided in this link: https://bit.ly/2ilgBOH), I kept on getting the message“No publications available.” 😓

After some searching, I noticed that other people have had the same issue (that these people had not previously submitted to a Medium publication should have been my clue). Desperate, I returned to the link above and read it again, following its instructions step-by-step once more. Unfortunately, I got the same results. 😰

I finally figured it out though. And I am ashamed to admit my negligence here. I should have reviewed the “common questions” at the bottom of the post (I know, you’re probably rolling your eyes).
