America’s Political Movements — Comparing Then and Now

Did political movements of the 1960s and ’70s have deeper roots with longer lasting positive impacts than our 21st century political movements?

How would we define a political movement anyway? Why did the Civil Rights movement achieve many tangible successes but the Climate movement has not? How has the digital age changed political movements?

It’s the first week of December. And all of us have come to terms with what happened on November 5th. 77,236,291 Americans are quite happy. But 74,938,535 unhappy Americans are trying to figure out how to cope with another round of Mr. Trump’s presidency. To be sure, this sort of comeback has happened in our history. Grover Cleveland — a Democrat by the way — was our 22nd and 24th President, serving two non-consecutive terms.
